ADHD means Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
ADD means Attention Deficit Disorder. Therefore no hyper activity
Living with either one of these is very hard. It is even hard for a person who knows someone with ADD/ADHD.
Someone who has this condition may come across as lazy. When in fact their brain is running multitasks every minute of the day. It gets so exhausting for the person. Sometimes they need to nap. All their monthly chores run through their minds every second of the day. That they feel they won’t forget to do any of the things in their mind because they are thinking about it over and over and over again. However because their mind is working multitask constantly. They get tired and nothing gets accomplished. They end up forgetting to do anything that needed to be done.
Some time’s their mind goes into hyper focus here they are finally focused but on one thing only. Such as cleaning their house. The house work finally gets done. They fell alive and normal that they were able to start something and not get side tracked by something else and not finish what they started.
However unfortunately this doesn’t last long. Their minds start thinking in over drive again and they are onto something else.
Someone who is a friend of someone with ADD/ADHD needs to know and except that their friend can’t get organized with housework, sorting their mail, just finishing anything. Or that their friend may be onto one subject that you will hear about over and over until they are onto something else. Their friends also have to understand that someone with ADD/ADHD may cancel a date with them at short notice, maybe because they are onto another hyper focus or they are so tried and need to sleep from their brain multitasking again.
Just know that accepting someone who has this condition is a good thing. You may find that you found a best friend, a good person. Don’t judge until you know someone.

This article is exactly what I live with every day, over thinking and forgetting… I just had a spat with my boyfriend of 3 years because he feels like I can’t remember or chose not too, but when I told him it’s due to these reasons he seems almost in disbelief. I printed this and will read it with him tonight in hopes that we mend our relationship. Thank you.
